Nizamabad State Education Department is planning to extend free health kit scheme to all the Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Government high school girl students all over the state.
Currently, the education department is providing health kit worth Rs 300 with 16 items including cosmetics to girl students of the KGBV, Modal, Residential schools all over the state. This is provided quarterly, once in three quarters in every academic year.
Now the education department is planning to extend the scheme to all ZP and Government high schools. This will prevent the dropouts and it will create health awareness in their families.
"In addition to providing health kits education department has planning issue health profile cards by conducting health camps in respective schools'' one of Education department officials said. While addressing district-level review meeting recently District Collector MRM Rao said that government has given top priority to education and encouraging girls to continue their studies. He has said that as part of this decision to provide health kit to all the high school level students.
"Government is committed to encouraging girls in education as part of that they are providing facilities to girls students in schools and all these should, in the villages-level increase students enrollment in government schools'' Rao added.
District Educational Officer (DEO) N Rajesh said that in 225 high schools situated in Nizamabad district and more than 40,000 girl students may get benefitted from the health kit scheme which is expected to be started by the department in coming few days. He said that after receiving directions from the department they will prepare a beneficiaries list according to every school. He also added that state-level office will supply health kits and they will see to it that it reaches all the schools.
