RISE (resilience, innovation, service, and entertainment) is an event that brings innovative thinkers and performers to the American International School Chennai to enrich the discourse and exposure around big ideas and global issues. This year they have invited three inspirational speakers to share their stories of turning their passion into their profession: Karthik Kumar, Masako Ono and Jayachandran Palazhy.

Karthik Kumar, a stand up comic, actor and arts entrepreneur, will talk about how he came to achieve his success and how he turned his passion into a reality.

Masako Ono is a Japanese native who has studied dance in the United States and Japan and is a classical Odissi dancer here in India. She has performed and given lecturedemonstrations and workshops all over the world. She has also performed for two Prime Ministers of Japan, Junichiro Koizumi in 2005 and Shinzo Abe in 2006.

Jayachandran Palazhy is the Artistic Director of the Attakkalari Centre for Performing Arts in Bangalore. Jayachandran founded Attakkalari in 1992 to combine Indian dance forms with contemporary moves.
