Visakhapatnam boy gets selected for training in Zeeshan Ali's tennis academy

Visakhapatnam-based tennis player Ananth Mani Muni has been selected for the Zeeshan Ali Tennis Academy in Bengaluru. He will undergo training for a period of three years at the centre, run by the former Indian Davis Cup player Zeeshan Ali.

The 14-year-old is a Class IX student of a private school at Adarsh Nagar and one among the 11 tennis players from the State to be selected for the residential coaching camp in the under-14-years boys' category.

District Sports Development Officer (DSDO), Visakhapatnam June Gallyot said that the coaching programme was a part of the State Government’s mission-based programme to develop AP in all areas, including sports as envisioned in the Sports Policy 2017-22.

She also said that the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) had conducted extensive selection camp for junior players in Vizag for admission in Zeeshan Ali’s tennis academy in February 2018, in which Muni had got selected from Vizag. Muni has, till date, clinched many medals in inter-district and inter-state tennis tournaments, Gallyot said.
