A week after he left, Majid Arshad Khan, a young footballer from Anantnag has surrendered to the police after running off to join the LeT. The second-year commerce student had put up a status on Facebook claiming to join the Lashkar-e-Taiba and was also known to have links with underground militants.

Reports have quoted a senior police officer as saying that Khan was at a police camp and would be joining his parents soon, "We got him back. It's such a happy moment. Mothers prayers answered by Almighty. Sincere request to all the boys who have picked up arms. Return to your mothers," the officer said on Twitter.

Ever since his disappearance, friends and family have been appealing on Facebook for Khan to return. Khan was allegedly distraught at the death of a friend in a police encounter and then decided to join the LeT. He is a second-year student at a local college.

IG Kashmir, Muneer Ahmad Khan has said that they will put in more efforts to bring back local youth who ha joined terrorist organisations.Another report suggested that it might be unlikely that Khan will face any strict punishment since the government has taken a lenient stand on the case.
