The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) postponed and rescheduled their final examinations for class VIII and IX, after the theft of 'confidential packets' containing the exam question papers from the Government High School, Sovima, Dimapur.

NBSE strongly suspects the students of stealing the packets. The District Education Officer, State Council of Educational Research and Training said. "They have broken open the window and stolen the papers.  Investigations are being carried out," he added.

As the school had allowed the breach to happen, the centre for class IX  exams has been changed to the Government High School, Diphupar 'B' and the Government High School, Sovima, will no longer function as an exam centre. There are over 2200 Government-run schools in Nagaland and their studies and exams are conducted by the NBSE.

Question papers for English, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Alternative English and Environmental Studies were stolen and so new question papers will be set and provided for the exam. As per the new schedule, class IX final examinations will be held from November 30 to December 8. The revised schedule has been posted on the NBSE website. The circular also says that all other exams will be conducted according to the existing schedule.

The new set of question papers will be delivered on November 29 to the district headquarters by the Board officials and schools are expected to collect it from the Board's office. Confidential packets are to be collected by the institutional head on specified dates from the respective district designated schools.
