Jawaharlal Nehru University tops the latest NAAC list with undented CGPA score of 3.77

The institution was evaluated on seven parameters by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which comes autonomously under the University Grants Commission

Despite a cloud of controversies and strained ties between the administration and student unions, Jawaharlal Nehru University topped the latest round of rankings released on Tuesday by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A ++ grades.  The grades were assigned based on seven different parameters.

The academic credentials of the varsity remain un-dented with a score of 3.77 on Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA), which catapulted it to the top of the list.

“We are happy about our rankings. We will continue to expand academic and research activities at JNU. The university will also focus on getting more research funding and also seek to collaborate with the industry. Our research needs to be transformed into applications to find solutions to the challenges India is facing today,” said M.Jagadesh Kumar Vice-Chancellor JNU.

The NAAC, which is an autonomous body comes under the University Grants Commission (UGC) which evaluated the institution on seven different categories: curricular aspects, teaching-learning and evaluation, research, innovations and extension, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance, leadership and management, institutional values and best practices.

“This recognition by NAAC instils confidence in us that a collective, hard work in the service of our society will always be appreciated by all. This milestone for JNU reflects the sheer hard-work and untiring effort by all members of the university, and the Administration wishes to congratulate all faculty members, staff and students for this recognition” said S.C Garkoti, rector of the JNU in a statement.
