Ryan Murder: Meet Kerala hacktivists 'Red Lizard' and Co who've just taken down Ryan International School's website
After hacking Maneka Gandhi's site, Kerala Cyber Warriors are on a social cause rampage - here's how they tell us why they do it in a previous hush-hush chat-terview
The country has been witnessing protests, government action and public mandates after the cold-blooded murder of a seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur on the school premises in Gurugram. What stands out is the action taken by a group in Kerala, which has not only hacked the websites of the school but has also put out an FB post, thus, paying their homage to the victim.
Here is the FB post that claims the hacking of the websites:
MEET THE BRAINS BEHIND THE ACTION
Earlier, online prostitution and circulation of nude pictures of girls on social media bothered this bunch of young guys. Now, the Kerala Cyber Warriors have come together to bring down the website of Ryan International School.
With code names and secret operations, this team has taken all the measures to ensure efficiency. “Nobody, not even our families, knows what we do. Some of us even have a different day job. If anyone knows what we do, it will be difficult to hack the profiles,” says a team member.
Needless to say, to be on a team like this, one needs to put forward loyalty and dedication. Hiring always remains a tricky business but the team leader is always ready to take risks. “We hire people and teach them the hacking skills ourselves. If at any point, we get a sluggish response from them, we ban them forever. And there are no second chances,” he says. “We do prefer people who have taken a course in ethical hacking but it is not a mandatory requirement,” he believes.
“You should see the enthusiasm of the team when such cases come up,” the Red Lizard (code name of a team member) says. But what follows after busting these profiles is not something very pretty. “We receive suicide threats by the page admins after we hack their profiles. Most of them have this particular dialogue – ‘what if our family will know about us’. So, we blur their identity on our FB page and share it with the police to take the case forward,” he explains.
With their actions speaking volume about their will to free social media website from vulgar posts and security threats, we had to ask about their future goal. “There was and is only one vision that we follow – hack pages till not even a single one survives,” the Red Lizard signs off.
Hackers' bay: This is how the websites looks now
Hacker code-named GH057_R007, one from the team, is the man behind the task to teach Ryan School a lesson. While Edex is yet to ascertain hackers' personal link with the child, it has been established that this is their way to fight for the security of the students in the country.
