IIT- Bombay Broadcast Channel's ''Honest Intern'' will make everyone go "How true!" every few minutes of the video. The hilarious take on internships will give adults something to laugh about and freshers something to giggle nervously about.
In their first attempt at a comedy sketch, the BBC team draws on their own experiences of internship placements at IIT and other institutes, starting from sorting out the resumes.
The video then does a funny take on the interviews that happen between the prospective employers and students and they point out how employers have usually made up their minds about why they want to take even before they interview them.
Hat tip to Mr Tharoor and his farrago
The protagonist also answers with Tharoor's famous "Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations and outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist" to a random question and the interviews simply say okay, showing how it doesn't really matter what you say in an interview as long as you are using big words and sound smart, even if the words are unintelligible.
13 reasons why internships don't teach you anything
The student also gets tested on his tolerance levels by being forced to listen to FB's latest sensation 'Dinchak Pooja'.And when the employers ask him what he would do if he didn't get the internship, the protagonist does a '13 Reasons Why' by saying it was time for them to listen to their tape! For those who have been missing from the Netflix scene, in 13 Reasons Why, the lead character lists out reasons for her suicide and leaves behind a tape accusing 13 people!
Inspiration from AIB
The BBC team said that this was their first proper attempt at a sketch comedy, after a trial attempt at making fun of their election season called ''Honest Elections'', which went viral on their campus. Arpit Burad, the lead actor, scriptwriter and director of the 'Honest Intern' was also the director of the election sketch. "I was inspired by AIB's Honest videos, so thought it would make sense for our campus situations as well," he said.
The team is the media wing of the Institute and puts up videos of all its visitors and special events but this year's overall coordinator Samarth Patidar felt like the medium could be made more entertaining and useful and therefore decided to put up comedy sketches.
Summer of comedy sketches
Despite being students at one of India's top Institutes, the students still manage to allot time for their creativity, "Now it's summer, so we have holidays and just have one or two projects to do, so we have the time to work on videos like these," said Dimple Kochar, one of the convenors at BBC.
