But how? By helping anyone design a 2D Map for any unknown location. Team ExploDroid, as they call themselves, explains how it works, "The robot might just be one and a half feet in height but has many practical applications. Not only can it map an unknown area but also transmit images live to a receiver. The mapping process can assist space exploration and can help it scout during rescue operations."

After seven weeks of developing the project at a cost of Rs 30,000, the team displayed it at the Microsoft Roadshow at PES University on Tuesday.

The Microsoft Innovation Lab is a research lab for the students of PES University where students develop innovative projects on a range of subjects that are aimed at addressing present day problems. The lab throws open its doors for the public to have a glimpse into its inner workings with the annual Roadshow.

The student interns work on domains such as Robotics, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Sensor Networks and Virtual Reality and design solutions to social concerns through these.
