You've got a great degree.

You've gotten yourself placement to work with a company that's considered among the big three in your sector of choice.

You hate getting up to go to work.

You need to quit this. Now.

As today's youth pick careers beyond engineers, doctors, fashion enthusiasts and lawyers, counselling has become important in identifying skill sets, aptitude and training requirements. Sandeep Singh, a young entrepreneur has been closely studying and observing the education system both as a student and explorer for years.

The founder of Edunuts, an organisation that aims to help students and parents take informed decisions related to education, he is also a skilled national level Chess player, and a great orator. He has already founded and served as the CEO of Guru InfoWays, a leading professional and E-Commerce web designing company. We caught up with him to figure out why there was such a slew of people making mid-career job switches. Excerpts:

How is career counselling done in Edunuts?
At Edunuts, we conduct psychometric tests that help us understand students’ behaviour. Based on the test reports, individuals are further provided with personalised counselling. These tests help students learn about their strengths, limitations, potential, passion, and inclination. The test reports also tell them about the career possibilities that suit them the most. Apart from tests, personal assistance helps them to clear the doubts and hesitations that make students anxious.

Are we at that point where there is a completely technology-driven platform for career counselling?
No, not yet. However, we’re working on the live chat platform named as Edunuts Connect which will be completely driven by artificial intelligence. The chat aims to connect the students with the appropriate counsellors based on their career requirements in real time.

How well is it working online?
It is working quite well — in the last 6 months, we have provided online consultation to over 15,000 students who had doubts regarding their higher study plans. Besides this, our online traffic has grown by over 1000% in just a year.

What are you trying to achieve through Edunuts?
We aim to create an environment where no student repents the career they choose. Our platform is dedicated to provide every possible information to the students who are at the crossroads of their career.

What is your vision for the website?
At Edunuts, we are helping students to make informed and sensible career decisions. While a right career decision can make everything else fall into place, an uninformed one can put your entire life on challenge and with our platform, we don’t want any student to waste even a bit of his/her valuable resources.

How did you come up with the name Edunuts?
Edunuts represents how people are going crazy about formal education, i.e. degrees and certificates. Besides, the name can easily approach our target audience, i.e. youth and can be easily remembered.
