Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) today said Vice-Chancellor has assured them that bi-monthly meetings will be held. The move comes after a sit-in protest staged by Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) since yesterday outside the VC Yogesh K Tyagi's official residence over their several demands.
"Though it was only a partial headway, the VC assured to hold bi-monthly meetings," said Rajesh Jha, a professor, and a council member. The teachers association has been trying to highlight several issues including tampering of service conditions, issues of physical education teachers and librarians, pensions and absorption of ad hoc teachers.
"The VC assured of starting the recruitment process for physical education teachers and librarians without delay and also showed positive response towards releasing the pension for those not covered by the court case," said DUTA President Nandita Narain. The VC also promised democratic composition of the Health Centre Advisory Committee.
