Interviews can give anyone nightmares, from students to professionals. So here is your friend, InterviewBuddy, to help you through it. This start-up, which was launched in 2018, helps you through interviews by conducting mock interviews. And they have an army of 850 industry experts, including ones from Google, Facebook and other MNCs, who will train you to conquer all your fears and emerge victorious from the dreaded interview room.
When Ujwal Surampalli sailed through his own placement interview and saw others struggling with it, he saw an opportunity right there. He was pursuing Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam. As was his original plan, he took off to Germany to pursue his Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. "When there, I interviewed for an internship and again, I realised that interviews scare everyone, geographical local no bar," says the 27-year-old.
"When we started InterviewBuddy, we thought that only fresh graduates or final-year students will be signing up with us, but interestingly, our very first client was the VP of Barclays who wanted to prepare for a Senior VP interview, Subsequently, we started getting several requests from working professionals as well," explains the entrepreneur. So wondering how you can opt for a mock interview with them? Just sign up with them, book a slot on their calendar, share your résumé and the job role you are applying for, so that your mock interview can be that much more apt. You can opt for HR, technical, behavioural or executive-level interviews as well.
Domains? Oh, they have plenty, from Information Technology — their main field — to core engineering, banking, finance, insurance, healthcare and management. They have their own video-conferencing platform and the mock recruiters can even give coding assignments and track the approach of the candidates in real-time. In this way, they have conducted over 15,000 interviews since their inception. On the other side, InterviewBuddy has also befriended institutes like GITAM, to train their students for placement interviews.
What has been an eternal challenge for Ujwal has been pitching video interviews to educational institutions, who were never keen on conducting video interviews, which was InterviewBuddy's format all along. "The lockdown actually drove home the importance of online formats for educational institutions," he explains. Next up, they are toying with the idea of résumé creation and their team of 12 is gearing up with more ideas via which they can ensure that students and professionals get the best experience via their platform.
