Pictures, pictures and then some more. Our digital world is cluttered with pictures. While online, we have filters, emoticons and a million different ways that we can enhance our own pictures. But what about the physical world? Entre, Hyderabad-based People of Prints (PoP). This personalised and social design printing start-up is here to shake things up. No, we are not talking just about printing pictures but the very display of these printed pictures.
Neha Shah has been an entrepreneur for a decade now. But it was this February that she rebranded her former company Recapture and rechristened it PoP. But it's not only the name that has changed. But first things first, why print when there is digital? "We scroll through endless digital photos on our phone, but the special memories, which we wish to relive, can be done in the most heartfelt way only through print. Only then, it grows from being a picture to a memoir," says the 32-year-old. Their first innovation was a WhatsApp-powered portable photo studio. "So at events, all you have to do is send pictures to our WhatsApp number and our portable photo studio will print adorable polaroids for you," says Neha who was part of ISB's Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Ambassadors programme. PoP successfully introduced this in about five events during pre-COVID times and now, they are back in business.
Our favourite product offering from PoP is Magneto, which uses the power of magnets stickers to ensure that you don't have to drill a hole through your wall to hang photos. A product of eight to ten months of research, Magneto are removable and reusable photo magnets. There are also magnetic photo ropes. You can string multiple photographs along a metal wire with the help of these magnets.
Let's take a minute and talk about the quality of the photos they print. They offer a three-layer lamination on FSC-certified paper. They offer the conventional framing services apart from all the novel services detailed above. "Our polaroid prints have the most vintage vibes ever," says Neha who has pursued a PG Diploma on Intellectual Property Rights. As Recapture, they have received over 1,000 orders for their various products and as PoP, now that the country is unlocking, they are looking forward to offering their portable photo studio services at events and fulfilling many more orders.
