Have a talent you want the world to know about? This start-up by an LPU student can help you shine

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Sai Abhinay Chepuri is back in his native place in Telangana. This Lovely Professional University is in the process of organising virtual events. So watch out for them

Come one, come all. At this event, you, dear corporates, will find the crème de la crème of talent competing to showcase their best version, just for you — this is what we think Make It Memorable (MIM) Creative Works' pitch would be to explain to the top brass of companies what the start-up is capable of doing for them — finding the right talent. This is what they have been doing since they kickstarted their operations in July 2017. Since then, they have organised over 30 events. What events are these? Photography contests, art competitions, dance battles and so much more. "We tie-up with corporates for the events, they even attend as judges, and those students who win walk away with a job, internship or a project," explains the founder, Sai Abhinay Chepuri. He has helped 50 photographers, five of whom are working with none other than Nikon, 20 videographers and eight editors find work. And that's how they do it.

Born in a town in Telangana called Vemulawada, Abhinay is a fourth-year BTech student at Lovely Professional University (LPU) and it is this university that serves as the battleground for the students and those who drop by. But why would corporates just come for prospective employees when we all know they have enough already? "We spread the word about their products on our campus through various means — our portals, flyers, on notice boards, word of mouth and so much more," reveals the 20-year-old who also works with the college's placement cell and the student welfare department, and he makes use of these connections well. Basically, he creates a win-win situation for corporates and students too.

During the ongoing pandemic, he helped spread awareness about COVID and provided necessities to frontline workers as well

But, of course, it's not as simple as it sounds. "We verify the candidates for the corporates and offer all of what we do, but it still is very difficult to cajole them into attending our events," says the entrepreneur. But the huge university based in the outskirts of Jalandhar has over 30,000 students at any given point and this is excluding the staff and visitors. So it's a hard opportunity to passover for the corporates, especially when they see its full potential.

MIM has an interesting model, wouldn't you agree? But we wonder what prompted Abhinay to begin this venture, which even won him the Emerging Entrepreneur Award from SWI International Awards in 2019. "I know so many people, especially photographers and videographers, who are talented but don't know how to showcase it to their advantage. I just wanted to help," he says. No wonder he was able to connect students so that they could gain employment with Sony, Punjab Film Festival and, well, the list is fairly long. If you're looking for an opportunity, perhaps you should ask him, he might agree to help you too.

Wait, he has two other start-ups:
- Enviropromise: With the help of agricultural students, he has travelled to 20 farms in Punjab to help farmers understand new-age practices
- Freshspout: He supplies organic food that is grown in the most eco-friendly manner. The quality is also guaranteed
