Creating an awareness about heart health and the need for everyday monitoring of health, Bangalore-based health tech start-up Dozee conducted a no-cost on-spot heart health check-up in Pune today to assess the risk of having a heart failure.
Dozee, the Made in India technology, has developed the world's first such test which equips individuals to test their heart from the comforts of home, a spokesperson said. Additionally, a World Heart Day event was conducted in collaboration with Seniority.in, India's first ever senior-friendly website with specially curated products for elders.
"Dozee detects minute cardiac contractions, including closing and opening of aortic and mitral values. This enables it to screen users for reduced ejection fraction and heart failure through indicators like Myocardial Performance Index (MPI)," said Gaurav Parchani, Co-founder and CTO, Dozee.
"Dozee has been validated against Echocardiograph recordings at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (SJICR) which is the gold standard. Dozee enables tracking of these parameters regularly on a daily basis in a non-contact and remote manner," he added.
Explaining the AI-powered technology that runs Dozee, Mudit Dandwate, CEO & Co-founder, said, "Our advanced algorithms have been trained over billions of data points to achieve 98. 4 per cent accuracy in measuring heartbeat and respiration. The device is a contact-free health monitor and a personal health companion that aims at making healthcare simple, affordable and inclusive," he added.

The device is built specifically for home settings, requires no technical expertise to set up and provides an effective remote monitoring service that enables high-skilled medical staff to take decisions remotely.
A paper published in 2018 IEEE-EMBS Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (IECBES) proposed that the algorithm detects individual heartbeats from BCG data with a higher detection rate as well as accuracy better than previously proposed techniques.
The device runs on a technology known as Ballistocardiography (BCG), which involves measurement of the movement of the heart. BCG can be extended to find movement, breathing and snoring.
