The protest will be held at the old walkway of Marine Drive

At a time when social media has become this generation’s sole outlet for outrage and dialogue, Too Much Equal, Kerala’s first feminist meme page is organising a protest to express a collective disappointment regarding law and order situation in the country in light of the mishandled Walayar case on Monday, November 4. Five days ago, the team urged their followers to gather at the Old Walkway of Marine Drive Kochi in protest.

The gathering, titled ‘Silence for Justice’ calls for a peaceful gathering from 3:30 to 4:15 PM. The page told their followers in a late evening post, ‘If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you’ve chosen the side of the oppressor.’  The page, which has over 33,000 followers on Instagram has a strong followers of young gender activists and students. During the event, student groups from Maharaja’s College and the Government Law College of Ernakulam are likely to attend.

Participants are requested to bring blindfolds and appropriate placards to get the point across peacefully. Rose Mary, the Founder of the group said, “We have invited students from Kochi’s best colleges and informed various authorities about this. We feel like the time has come to get off of our armchairs and take activism into the streets, where it belongs.” The organisers have requested all those who are participating to strictly maintain decorum and the message of peace.
