School Headmasters and Headmistress in Madurai district find difficult in taking online TC from EMIS web portal due to server problem and technical error in the system. Educational Management Information System(EMIS) is a statewide data collection system for students primary and secondary education, including demographic information, attendance, course information, financial data, and test results. Already, all the schools in Madurai district has updated the students details.

At present, as many as 5,32,000 students records were uploaded in EMIS. As the same, Virudhunagar district also completed the uploading process few months ago.School Education Department(SED) insisted the school headmasters and headmistress to issue students Transfer Certificate through online only. However, previously EMIS team at Chennai would do the work of giving promotion to the students. At present, from this year on wards, it is the duty of headmaster or headmistress of the school to upload all the details. Speaking to Express, on request of anonymity, one of the Headmistress from the Government Higher Secondary School said that this year School Education Department has announced to issue Student Transfer Certificate through on-line from EMIS web portal. In this situation, we find difficult in uploading some information including medical camp details, special incentive to the students and like. Also, the server is not supporting and very slow in while processing the data. Hence, they issued the TC through off-line for Class XII and Class X, she said. On responding the issue, Virudhunagar District Educational Officer Mohan said that teachers need to fill identification marks of the students, type of school, Aadhar no and like.

It is a wonderful system it helps to get all datas including drop-outs, each student's record from LKG to Class XII and there is no possibility of duplication. But, at the same time, some challenges teachers faced while uploading like medical camp details, giving promotion, server speed and it was informed to the SED. Soon, it will be rectified, he said.
