At least ten new songs are being composed every second. There are at least five that get ready for release every other minute. Here's a platform that aims to bring every melody to light, every rhythm to life. An artist and a fan complete each other. In fact, they both need more of the other. Here’s a place for both - GrooveNexus, a new age entertainment and music place that acts as the binder for music lovers. Founded by Himanshu Mishra, Nishant Mishra, and Prabhanjan Deshpande, who are musicians themselves, GrooveNexus is the best platform to look out for if you are a passionate connoisseur of music. We spoke to Himanshu Mishra, one of the founders of the platform to find out more about the exciting digital platform.

Excerpts:

How would you explain GrooveNexus to a layman?

GrooveNexus is a digital platform to bring together everyone who loves music. To begin with, they could be artists, fans, and events. We are bringing in independent artists of different kinds and genres - singers, instrumentalists, DJs and mixers, rappers, etc., and even bands. We are also bringing in a lot of fans all across as subscribers to our portal. Moreover, we are engaging with a lot of music fests, especially in popular colleges across the country. This, in turn, is bringing in a lot of readers and other music lovers, on the platform.

Why do you call GrooveNexus an entertainment and 'music-place'?

We are all familiar with a marketplace, where there are products and services. On GrooveNexus, we have music so we call it a music-place. This is where you have an ecosystem of music. Artists and their original music, fans of all kinds, events and event management companies, music producers, reviews of music and music equipment, and a lot more. Hence, we came up with the term: music-place.

What does the word music mean to the founders?

Music is a universal connector. It connects everyone, everything, everywhere. It is a universal language. We as founders love to perform for our audiences, and we are ardent listeners of various artists, and genres. With GrooveNexus, we can connect to everyone in the language they best understand (music) and a genre they best appreciate.

How is GrooveNexus the binder for an artist and a fan? How is it different from any other digital platform where a musician can socialise their creation?

GrooveNexus is all set to become an eco-system of music. While there are artists and fans connecting, there are event management companies and music brands being on-boarded. We are working on ways to take the music experience to the next level. We will be working on virtual and augmented reality being integrated with the way one can experience music here. Colleges and fests around the country are seen as great opportunities. We are soon digitising them all and bringing a lot of students together. It will be a grand movement. With so many youngsters coming on to the platform, this proves to be a great opportunity for brands targeting the youth, to be on. They will get the right attention here.

What inspired you to come up with this platform?

When I was a student in Delhi Technological University, I was also a part of the cultural council and used to anchor their music fest. That is when I saw an opportunity to create a platform to connect all students with the spotlight being on the performing artists at the fest. Years later, I started making a platform all by myself to take it back to college. Nishant and Prabhanjan, being marketing aficionados and passionate about music, joined me in giving it the shape and size needed. We called it GrooveNexus. GrooveNexus was launched at Engifest, at the DTU with Quintino, the World Mag #25 DJ, from the Netherlands, playing his foot-tapping EDM music.

Do you charge new musicians when you provide them with a platform/socialise their creations?

There is a small amount of fee, but not something that the artists cannot afford. The fee is mainly to bring in commitment from both the parties. The intent is to bring the artists closer to fans, they never thought they could get to.
