The hardships that you face in life can shape you in a way nothing else can. And difficulties and tough times are what shaped Venu Kalyan. Having juggled multiple jobs like newspaper and milkman, chemist, typewriter, accountant and call centre support, he held them all to ensure that he sees his family through financial difficulties. The good news is that he did emerge victorious in his cause, but though a milestone, this was not the turning point of his life. That day came when he was at a motivational seminar, looked at the speaker and thought to himself, 'I can do this too.' And boy did he surpass his own expectations.
Today, Venu Kalyan is still juggling as he continues to wear many hats, including that of mind trainer, tarot card teacher, entrepreneur, Neuro-Linguistic Programming trainer and above all, a motivational guru and a self-taught one at that. Or was it life that taught him all? "I just continued to believe that apna time aayega," he says and laughs. Indeed, his time is now and he ensured that the time to come is his too. After stabilising the situation at home, he launched his company Unik Life, and for over a year, visited schools and colleges giving free motivational talks. Slowly, educational institutions started calling him back and till date, he has impacted more than 12 lakh people and was recognised by Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary, Government of Telangana.
In the past seven years, Venu Kalyan has spoken at more than 500 schools, 1,000 plus educational institutions and 10 service-based organisation. All this has been possible because of the 10-member team working under him to make Unik Life what it is today. "Today, I have built my dream house, I have my dream car and I have traveled to several international countries to deliver talks. Now, I want to help others achieve their dreams," he says. He has also trained 250 trainers and Train the Trainer happens to be his most popular sessions.

The 29-year-old believes that what distinguishes him from other life coaches out there is that he also offers life hacks for every problem out there, practical techniques that one can apply to solve them. "According to me, motivational seminars are 70% techniques and 30% motivation because motivation doesn't get you results, techniques do," says the trainer who upgrades himself and his content every year to stay relevant. His motto is to bring about a positive change in everybody's life. "I wish to open a centre where I can give seminars to people free of cost. I also want to involve parents in my seminar because they have a huge impact on children," he says and concludes.
Just apply them
Venu Kalyan's technique to beat a few problems:
- Setting goals: Set short-term goals and find out your 'why', which is that burning desire that gives you purpose to achieve your goals. Set a deadline and you are good to go.
- Social media addiction: Whatever is disturbing you or distracting you, simply delete that app from your phone
- Depression: Don't think about the past or the future, live in the present and keep yourself occupied. Surround yourself with positive people who care about you
