Eating healthy is a choice, a choice which one needs to make every single day. But, even if you chose a salad over that samosa, how do you know it contains the micro and macronutrients that your body is in need of? This is where you need an intervention. Let Greens and More show you the way to a healthier lifestyle with their meals and salads. With the help of experts on their team, they don't only track calories and carbs but also vitamins and minerals you require. Healthy eating doesn't get more personalised than this.
Preeti Sinha was looking for healthy food options in Hyderabad and upon failing to find any, started Greens and More in her own kitchen. "My own lifestyle did not permit me to cook a lot," says the former employee of TCS. One day, she got up at 3 am to whip up a salad which she offered at an ongoing fitness class in her apartment. Needless to say, everybody loved it and wanted to subscribe to it. Who was Sinha to say no? They started roughly with 100 boxes per month and now serve 1,600 boxes per month. This year they registered the company and moved to a new kitchen along with the team they had on board. The team includes public health experts, "who look at the macro level, like Vitamin D deficiency, which is common among Indians and the fact that India falls under the thyroid belt. These guidelines are taken care by them" and nutritionists, "who suggest ingredients after checking your DNA profile" along with health and fitness experts, explains the 37-year-old. Did you know what happens when Iron, found abundantly in spinach, is paired with lemon or orange, known to be rich in Vitamin C? The combination doubles the rates of the absorption of nutrients. So they also remain mindful of these kinds of food pairings to make sure that only the most nutritious recipes get on your plates.
Incubated under Niti Aayog, some of the milestones of Greens and More have been a license from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and retaining more than 100 of their customers. "This is because we incorporate constructive feedback and keep innovating our meals," says Sinha, who was born in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. Pasta made with quinoa - with just one example of innovation she suggests, our taste buds start to tingle curiously. Greens and More employ people who are under the PM's skill development programme for their cloud kitchen. They have outsourced their delivery but have their own small delivery team as well
Sinha is currently looking for franchise opportunities as they have their SOPs in place. The word is already out about their lip-smacking meals which has bagged them a kiosk at the Microsoft office. "We want to be the Subway of India but we want to cause the disruption online," says Sinha, explaining that at Greens and More, they are looking at a scenario where, after people understand the amount of nutrition and calorie intake they should aim for, can choose their own ingredients, just like toppings on a pizza. Only healthier, of course.
