Remember the time when you wanted a certain kind of bag, but weren't sure what colour you wanted it in? How you wished you had the time (or frankly, weren't so lazy) to check out some options yourself in that city mall with awful parking or that faraway store where the good ones are available. Before you think Amazon, Flipkart and the gazillion other online options that are crowding the e-commerce platform, let us introduce you to BoloMitrama, a company that claims that it is adept at helping you with this predicament. So to check out the bags (you know, the ones that you're unable to check out yourself) and the various colour options available, you can opt for their services which ensure that you get the chance to look before you buy. The bags you choose are picked up from the store and delivered within two days, sometimes even one if you're lucky. And what if you don't like any of them? No problem! For a nominal delivery fee of up to `30 (hey, at least you don't have to step out of the house!), you can opt not to buy them and have them sent back. Sounds like a pretty good deal, we'd say.

We are concentrating on supporting small vendors as well

Badari Narayana, Founder, BoloMitrama

So, that is the long and short of BoloMitrama, founded by Badari Narayana. But before you write this start-up off as another e-commerce variant, we'd like to inform you that they are constantly trying to innovate and do something that makes them different. In our conversation with Badari, who hails from Podili in Andhra Pradesh, he tells us about their USP — customisation. "The idea actually germinated from my own personal experience," says Badari who had joined a software company and worked in New Delhi and Pune before starting this venture. It was when he was travelling from Pune to Andhra and his train stopped at the Secunderabad Railway Station that he realised it would be super convenient if the things he purchased for his Hyderabad relatives could be picked up from him right then and delivered. And Eureka! The idea was born. To recently delivered a rakhi and a handwritten letter from a sister living in Vijayawada to her brother who was then in Bengaluru. "We customise everything we do as per customer requirement," says Badari.

Better together: You can even call them to explain your requirement and they will do what's needed

Currently, BoloMitrama, which was registered in February 2017 and became operational in September of the same year, is bootstrapping and trying to build an infrastructure that can handle the number of orders that come pouring in. They have a team of five delivery executives who handle between 300-500 orders on a monthly basis and are operational in Hyderabad. "We fully support the Digital India initiative and even have 10 to 15 women entrepreneurs on board who sell their products on our platform," the founder explains. The team has several ideas, but are expecting funds before they can proceed with its implementation. "We are common people spending out of our own pockets to run the company,” confesses and concludes Badari.
