Tech that: Meet YouTuber Pranay Chouhan who won big at the Social Media Summit Awards

Pranay Chouhan currently has uploaded more than 323 videos and has more than 98,454 subscribers on his YouTube channel Tech Theory

Winning the Best Under 15 Content Creator on Social Media at the Social Media Summit Awards (SMSA) held in Vijayawada came as a huge surprise for Pranay Chouhan. SMSA, which was conducted on November 9 and 10, is the same summit which was attended by actor Kareena Kapoor, Samantha Akkineni, and several others. This summit honours those who not only have a huge following on social media but are also trendsetters in more ways than one. Pranay was among the chosen ones.

Pranay usually doesn't use a script. He believes that speaking in a fixed fashion will not help him develop a connect with his viewers

"There was a time when I used to watch award functions at my home with my family, but being at one and receiving an award was a wonderful experience for me," says Pranay who travelled to Vijayawada with his father. His family, he says, was speechless as they were unaware of what a powerful tool social media really is in today's times. "Next day, my name came in all the local newspaper and everyone was delighted," he recalls. "I did not even believe it until I received an official mail from the organisers confirming that indeed, I had won the award," says Pranay. All his friends and family, in fact, the whole colony was thrilled to bits.

The one rule which I follow is that I maintain my academics along with my channel. I believe in utilising my time to the fullest

Pranay is from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh and started the channel Tech Theory back when he was 14 years old. "I had already been introduced to YouTube and I used to watch a lot of tech videos but no quality channel catered to the Hindi-speaking audience," says Pranay. His love for technology too goes way back when he was 8 years old. "Even my father used to call me up from his office and ask me about computers when he would get stuck. I would dismantle old phones and computers, just out of curiosity," he says. It was open April 4, 2016, when Pranay was in class X, that he uploaded his first video and he has never stopped since then. Pranay tries to upload two to three videos per week. And because he has to balance student life, coaching classes and Tech Theory, he ensures that he makes the most of his time. In fact, his friends keep asking him to hang out with them, but he chooses to work on his videos or study. "I have been told that many of my juniors think that because I am earning without studying, the latter isn't important. But I want to tell people that you cannot sacrifice your studies. My CGPA in class X was 9.4.," says Pranay who is in class XII now. He is preparing for JEE now and wants to pursue engineering in the future. Clearly, he remains grounded in spite of the success he has seen."From being a boy who was no one, now sometimes people stop and ask me for selfies. But for me, my happiest moment was when I gifted my father an iPhone," Pranay recalls fondly.
