The wait for the UGC NET June 2026 result can be particularly stressful for Political Science candidates, where the cutoff can move noticeably between sessions. Rather than relying on social media predictions, the previous cutoff data offers a more useful reference point.
An analysis of the official subject-wise cutoff data for December 2024, June 2025, and December 2025 shows an interesting pattern: the Political Science cutoff has not moved consistently in one direction. It climbed sharply in June 2025 before falling in December 2025.
For the Unreserved category, the JRF cutoff stood at 234 marks in December 2024, rising to 244 in June 2025. It then dropped to 214 marks in December 2025. The Assistant Professor cutoff followed a similar pattern—from 210 to 218, then to 188. The PhD-only cutoff moved from 184 to 186 before falling to 164.

The same broad rise-and-fall pattern is visible for Assistant Professor and PhD-only cutoffs. In June 2025, for instance, the Assistant Professor cutoff for the Unreserved category reached 218, compared with 210 in December 2024. By December 2025, it had fallen to 188.
The biggest takeaway is that no single “safe cutoff” can be carried from one UGC NET session to another.
The June 2025 examination produced substantially higher Political Science cutoffs than the following December session. For the Unreserved category, the JRF cutoff fell by 30 marks, from 244 to 214. Assistant Professor dropped by 30 marks as well, while PhD-only fell by 22 marks.
That makes the December 2025 figures particularly useful as the latest benchmark, but not as a guaranteed prediction for June 2026.
Candidates should also remember that the June 2024 Political Science cutoff was reported in percentile rather than marks. The Unreserved JRF cutoff was 99.7303386 percentile, while the Assistant Professor cutoff was 96.3442108 percentile and PhD-only was 83.2434462 percentile. Therefore, those figures should not be directly compared with the mark-based cutoffs of later sessions.
In other words, the previous cutoff is a reference point, not a verdict.
For now, Political Science aspirants waiting for the June 2026 result can use the three-session trend to assess where their score stands — while avoiding unofficial “expected cutoff” numbers circulating before the NTA publishes the final subject- and category-wise cutoffs.
