The SFI's Puducherry Pradesh Committee and SFI Pondicherry University unit are conducting free coaching classes for aspirants to crack the Pondicherry University's entrance examinations for post-graduate and Integrated Courses since Monday. The initiative kicked-off in 2017 and the classes are being organised for the third consecutive year this time.

The first day of the coaching saw a turn out of around 50 aspirants, much higher than the number of students who attended the classes the previous year. Sixty per cent of the aspirants whom they coached cleared the entrance last year. The organisers, who are adamant on continuing the classes regardless of the attendance, say that their aim is to let the common people understand that anyone can clear an entrance examination. "Many government school students whom we know, found it difficult to clear the entrance exams. Also, many of us were personally approached by the students, asking for tips and tricks. That is when we thought of starting a free coaching class," says P Babu an MBA student in the university.

The classes are conducted by the PhD scholars in the university and the friends and colleagues of the organisers, who are well versed in the subjects. The organisers haven't faced any difficulty in conducting these classes but were rather appreciated and supported by their faculty. "The university faculty and staff have always supported our initiative. In fact, some of them have recommended their friends to coach the aspirants," says Babu. The study material distributed here are notes that they got printed with the help of a few government officials and the previous year's question papers that they've sourced.

The exams will be held on June 7, 8 and 9 this year.
