Hyderabad-based Workruit has made searching for jobs as easy as it can be. This is the reason why

Job seekers can see the detailed job role minus the contact details of the company. Same way, the company can see the CV of candidates, including details like salary expectations, minus their contacts

How frustrating, not to mention stressful, is the task of searching for a job! Those annoying job portals always seem to show you every kind of job other than the one you really need or actually qualify for. Not to mention how they spam your inbox with more such unrelated job posting. In this scenario, imagine an app, as easy as Tinder, where you could swipe right for the job you like and if the employer swipes right too, it's a match made in professional heaven.

The people at Workruit, a Hyderabad-based platform that aims at simplifying job search and recruitment, did not just imagine this scenario, they even conceived an app just like this back in 2017. Manikanth Challa worked with several big players after he pursued Information Science Technology, Design and Development from Penn State University, USA, including Dil Mil, a matchmaking app for South Asians, as a Lead Mobile Designer. "I wanted swiping right to mean much more," says Manikanth who was inspired by Tinder to build Workruit. He adds, "The interface of traditional job portals is loaded with information. I felt that there was a need for a portal on which you see only what you want to see, not what they want to show you." To address all these issues, the youngster returned to Hyderabad to work on an app that could change the game in the employment sector.

Companies are not allowed to see job-seekers' personal information unless it's a match. An in-app messenger is available for the two parties to chat

The app uses Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to connect job-seekers and recruiters. The 27-year-old Founder and CEO informs us that their USP is simplicity. So much so that they are working with both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to achieve this. While for the AP government it was a pilot, the Telangana government looped Workruit in to operate their Digital Employment Exchange of Telangana (DEET) initiative. "The information can be good and relevant but it all depends on the simplicity of the design which presents the information in a way that is easy to grasp," says Manikanth, who likes to travel. Currently, their 3,500-square-feet office on Road No 36, Jubilee Hills, houses 26 employees. They have more than 1,15,000 companies, including MSME and many other start-ups, registered on their platform and more than a million job-seekers. So far, they have connected over one lakh job-seekers to the right jobs.

Apollo Hospitals, Quikr, Swiggy and several other companies are on their platform already

When it comes to the employment sector, what are Manikanth's observations, we wonder. "There is a lot of demand for sure but most people are not aware of the right ones," he shares. In what might come as a huge relief to students, Workruit is working on its next project which, they say, is about the easiest and the quickest way to make an eye-catching résumé. They also aspire to offer their solutions to those outside India as well.

As Manikanth is an expert when it comes to User Interface and User Experience, we ask him which apps are his favourite and why:
- Swiggy: As per the youngster, they have evolved immensely and know exactly what's on your mind and what you want
- WhatsApp: "Their objective has been straight from the beginning — easy messaging. And their privacy and security measures are good too," he says
