Engineering today being the foremost priority as a career option for the students, the competition has got tougher since the past decade to get admissions in the best institutes, be it IITs, NITs, BITS, etc. The fear buzz that is created amidst the students prior to the examinations of the JEE-Main might lead to depressing situations for the ones who might have just begun their preparation of the exam, but the fact remains that it is not only the hard work but also the smart work that pays off at competitive exams such as JEE Mains.  Henceforth, it is definitely possible to crack JEE-Main in only two months. Here are some tips that might help you boost your confidence and also help you strategize:

First 40 days:

Knowing your strengths and weakness

The first and foremost step is self-analysis. It is very important to know the syllabus of the JEE Mains and accordingly check the topics which you already know and are confident about. Making a separate list of the topics in which you are weak, average and strong can help you plan.

Time-Table

Weak topics

After you know the topics in which you are weak in and need to devote more time focus on them and set a timeline for completion of the topics. Only if you bound yourself within the timelines, you will be able to focus more and dedicate yourself.

Average topics

Once done with the weaker topics the next level is of the average-leveled ones. Try to complete these in a time lesser than that dedicated to the weaker ones. Here, solving different patterns of the same topics would help.

Strong topics

These are the topics in which you are confident enough and hence reviewing only the formulas and solving tougher questions from various sources would prove useful. But it is essential to come back to these topics every now and then so that you do not miss any problem from these sections.

Smart-work

After knowing the timetable, review it by comparing it with the previous years' question papers and knowing which are the topics of greater importance and frequently asked. Focus and time should be given more to the topics which have been frequently asked and carry more weight. A very important note: Keep a book of formulas so as to review them quickly when needed. Also, keep a habit of going through the previous day’s formula the next day so that you do not forget them.

Follow your time-table

Be very strict with yourself while doing this and no kind of changes should be made for unnecessary reasons.

By the end of the 40 days, you must get at least known to the various formulas if not well-versed with the various topics of the syllabus.

Next 15 days:

Question papers solving

The next task is now focusing on time. Solve as many test papers which are available online or of the previous years or various other competitive examinations by keeping a track record of time. Time is very essential and hence you must know which section to give more importance to. While solving the papers observe which type of questions consume more of your time and if giving that amount of time is worth. Since negative marking is included in the exam, it is a smart move to skip the questions which you are not sure about. Only the case wherein you have doubt amidst 2 options can be worth taking the risk.

It is not important to attempt all the 90 questions, but it is very important to answer the attempted questions correctly. Hence, it is better to develop a habit as such so that during the JEE Main exam you are well aware.

Revision

The formula book which you’ll be preparing in the first part would play a crucial role here as you will not have to look for the solution of your queries in the 200-300 pages books but you can look for only this book which can work as a digest.

Last 5 days:

Practice makes a man perfect

Even if you feel that you have mastered every topic and do not need any more practice or do not feel like practicing only because of exam pressure, do not forget that practice only will help you cross this ocean. Being overconfident or under-confident always lead to dissatisfactory results and so maintain your confidence by practicing.

Let the bygones be bygones

Instead of paying attention to what you have already missed out focus more on the things you have already worked hard on which will boost your confidence.

Keep up the spirits high

It is very important to stay optimistic when the exam nears as you do not want to spoil your hard work by focusing on your fear instead of the exam.

General tips:

Health is wealth.

A fit body can only help you concentrate more and hence be very careful about your diet and your sleeping time. Meditation is one tool that can help you the most.

Its all in the mind

Do not let the peer pressure make you under confident about yourself. Any kind of negative comments or pieces of advice should be avoided. Believe in yourself and if there are any negative thoughts in your mind always remember it is you who are driving these and it is only you who can change them.

Relaxation

Along with the study, it is important to make time for relaxation. While it should be seen that this relaxation does not come in the way your schedule but it should be a part of it.

We really hope that this article has been proven to be useful to you and you’ll try your best to break the taboo that cracking JEE Main requires a hard work of 2 or even more years than just 2 months! All the best!
