LIBA inaugurates the first batch of Business Analytics Specialisation in partnership with TCS

Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), inaugurated the Business Analytics Specialisation in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). G Balanarayanan, General Manager HR, TCS, Chennai inaugurated the course in the presence of  P Christie SJ, Director – LIBA, eminent leaders from the industry, faculty, students and staff. With analytics transforming the functions of various industries, an exclusive panel discussion on the topic Opportunities in Data Analytics was organised alongside the inauguration. 

With distinguished speakers like Arun Ayyar, SantaFe Research and Sridhar Pandurangiah, Chief Technology Officer, Sastra Technologies, the panel discussion addressed the trends and opportunities in data analytics and social media analytics using HootSuite. Commenting on the inauguration of the course, P Christie SJ, said “Business analytics is an area of great relevance and potential LIBA is happy and proud to start this course in collaboration with TCS. The present job market poses numerous challenges and we need to develop new skills, capabilities and techniques to exploit the opportunities and challenges of today."

”In context with the 4th Industrial Revolution, he said LIBA strives to face challenges and use the opportunities to empower its students. G.Balanarayanan, General Manager – HR, TCS said, “The application and response to the launch of this course from the student fraternity has been overwhelming. TCS has been working closely with many institutes nationally to bridge the gap in industry-academia partnership. A highlight of this course is the train the trainer program, which will have the faculty of LIBA visiting TCS campus for regular training sessions. The course will also offer an opportunity for students to undertake a paid internship at TCS.”

“SMAAC, big data, robotics and automation are revolutionising the industry. This has paved way for the industry and academia to come together in building curriculum to suit the needs of the industry and make it best in class” added G Balanarayanan. LIBA as part of its business analytics specialisation will be hosting a workshop in the area of business analytics in Chennai and Bangalore. Dr A Narayanan, adjunct professor in the Department of Operations Business Analytics and Information Systems at the University of Cincinnati, will conduct the workshop.

The workshop with the topic, Statistical Computing will be held in Chennai from July 17-20 followed by the second batch from July 24-28. The workshop on marketing analytics will be held in Bengaluru starting from July 14-16 followed by the second batch from July 21-23.
