The 110 children from various parts of the country selected for the just concluded 10-day summer adventure camp conducted by the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) based at Wellington had the unique opportunity of experiencing the guidance from military personnel.

They got professional training in adventure activities including Rock Climbing, Horse Riding, Air Rifle and Pistol Shooting, Trekking and Boating.

Besides, they participated in cleanliness campaign as part of the Village Seva. They did this in Jagathala Village near Aruvankadu when they learned to segregate decaying and no-decaying wastes as also the ill effects of plastic on Earth.

Equally significant was their daylong stay with the deserted elders at the Old Age Home run by the Little Sisters of the Poor at Balaclava in Coonoor.

As part of involving in environment protection, the children plated trees at Wellington.

The MRC said that the aim of the camp was to develop the spirit of adventure and social awareness in children to make them better human beings and responsible citizens.
