On September 13, Vikash Goyal attempted NEET for the fourth consecutive time. Aspiring to get a medical seat, this BDS student from Bihar was relieved that the examination went well. In fact, when the NTA released the OMR sheets two weeks back, he cross-checked his answers to find out that he had scored 615 marks out of 720.

However, on Friday, when he sat down to check his results, little did he know that he was in for the rudest shock. "My NEET scorecard shows that I scored 10 marks out of 720. I do not know what to do now," says Vikash. He believes that the error would have occurred due to a mismatch during the exam. "The code that was written on my question paper and the OMR sheet was not correct. I had noticed it right then and alerted the invigilator and an NTA official at my exam centre. However, they asked me not to worry and told me that this will not affect my results," he says.

He had also written an email to the NTA, informing the same, but was assured that his OMR sheet will be checked in accordance with his question paper. Edexlive has seen a copy of that email, his OMR sheet and his NEET scorecard. While the code on his question paper is H4, his OMR code is E4. "They may have evaluated my answer sheet according to the questions on the E4 paper," he says. Apart from Vikash, a few other students have also alleged the same.

At the same time, students who had previously alleged an error in their OMR sheet are yet to get any relief. Deepak Soni from Rajasthan, who alleged a discrepancy of more than 500 marks in her daughter's OMR sheet says that she has only scored the same marks as what was shown in the OMR sheet. "Whatever had happened to us was quite unfair. My daughter spent three years preparing for this exam and this is what she gets. The entire family is quite upset," he says. He adds that his daughter may not attempt NEET again.
