EdexLive Desk

Nandita Narain, a St Stephen's College faculty has alleged that her car, parked outside her residence on the college campus, was vandalised on June 6, 2019. The car's windscreen was apparently smashed with a heavy object. Narain has lodged a complaint about the same with the college principal and the police.

The Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) and the Federation of Central Universities' Teachers' Associations (FEDCUTA) have both condemned the act. "Given the deployment of heavy security at the College gates, the act of vandalism appears to be perpetrated by elements from within the campus," reads the DUTA press release. The association that demanded a police investigation on the same also held the Principal responsible for the act. "It (DUTA) demands that the college authorities take immediate measures to ensure the safety, security and well-being of teaching and non-teaching staff and their families who are residing within the campus," reads the release, that was issued by DUTA President Rajib Ray and Secretary Vivek Chaudhary.

Narain, along with two other representatives of the St Stephen's College's Governing Body had filed a Court case against the college administration for the illegal inclusion of non-academic individuals from the Church in the interview panel for students' admissions. The case was filed on June 1 and the hearing is on June 12.
