While facing public examinations can be an ordeal for any student, it was a particularly tragic one for 15-year-old Anbuselvan, who had to sit for the English II paper of his Class X board exams a day after his mother's death, on Wednesday.

Anbuselvan was a Class X student at the Government Higher Secondary School in Kalveerampalayam. His parents Venkataswari (32) and Ramachandran (36), residents of  Bommanampalayam in Vadavalli, were headed to Edayarpalayam on a two-wheeler a couple of days ago, when they met with an accident, leavingVenkataswari was wounded on her left leg. She was provided first aid at a private hospital in Vadavalli and sent home. 

However, on Tuesday at 7 am, she woke up complaining of chest pain. The family rushed her to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH). However, she was declared dead on arrival. 

Despite the sequence of events, Anbuselvan appeared at the exam centre after his father, teachers and relatives convinced him to do so. He was allowed to leave the venue at 12.30 pm as and when he finished the test. 

By 1 pm, the hospital released the body after a postmortem. Venkatweshwari's final rights will be held at her native village in Dindigul.
