In what could be seen as a "millennial case", a young woman from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) who was missing since March 11 returned on Thursday and told police that she had gone out on her own and was fine. The 26-year-old student at the University's School of Life Sciences reportedly switched on her phone after four-days and immediately called the inspector back when she saw a number of missed calls and messages.

"The missing student has said that she had gone out on her own. She is fine," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southwest, Milind Dumbere. The woman was constantly being contacted on her cell phone by police officials but it was switched off, another officer said.
 

The incident came to light after her family lodged a complaint on March 12 at the Vasant Kunj police station, police said. The woman had last spoken to her family on March 10 but from March 11, her phone was switched off, they said.

Police said that after her family's attempts to trace her did not yield a result, they approached them with a complaint. The matter is under investigation, they said
