Unidentified student shoots lecturer dead in Haryana college

An ad hoc lecturer around 32-year-old was on Tuesday allegedly shot by one of his student's at a college in Kharkhoda, Sonipat district, police said. The deceased, The victim was identified as Rajesh Malik, they said adding that the youth was yet to be identified.

Police said the youth was believed to be a student of the same college, but the reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. The youth fired three to four shots at the lecturer with a revolver in the college premises, said police adding that one of the bullets hit Malik in the chest.

Malik succumbed to his injuries later and the accused is still at large, police said. The accused fled the spot after firing shots at the lecturer, they added. Recently, a student of class 12 had allegedly shot dead his school principal with his father's licensed revolver in Yamunanagar district in January earlier this year.
