Adding a little green to your space is Little Greens with their terrariums. “The tiniest pot can bring nature close to you," says Akash Srivastava, a freelancing landscape architect and the founder of Little Greens. Born with a green thumb and a love for architecture that started when in class V, Akash was further encouraged to take it up when he realised that his sister was interested in it too. "I slowly understood how important the field is, not only for smaller regions, but the world at large," the 26-year-old tells us.
We don't know about the world, but Akash is certainly going places in the country as he has undertaken projects in Manipur (an eight-acre public park), Punjab (the landscape of a residence) and the Metro station at Erragadda back home at Hyderabad. Amidst these projects, Akash along with partners Ajitesh Bansal and Shruti Keskar started Little Greens, which makes and supplies terrariums.
The one aspect of terrariums that clients are apprehensive about is if the plants will wither away. Terrariums make perfect gifts as they are low maintenance, says Akash, but cautions, "Please don't over-water them as they'll start rotting from the root." The soil composition and the drought-resistant succulents are all sourced from Hyderabad and Little Greens fashions standard terrariums and vertical ones as well.
And these are the future because, "as the world is progressing, people are beginning to understand that spending time with nature is very therapeutic," says Akash. And Little Greens distills these therapeutic qualities into their terrariums.
