Are you planning to launch a website or scale-up your business? You may want to get in touch with Commutatus, a Chennai-based web-development company that specialises in website design with cutting-edge technology. The platform assists companies in getting their service off the ground from the ideation stage, to designing the brand, and helping the company scale its product from a hundred users to a million.

And it’s just not about business here! The Commutatus team strives to understand what makes your organisation special by following the roots of your business. EdEx caught up with founder Michael Kevin Victor, who spent a year as the Global Information Systems Manager for AIESEC International in the Netherlands, before he started the company in 2014. Excerpts:

How does Commutatus help scale businesses?

Commutatus scales-up businesses by integrating ourselves deeply within their organisation and providing expertise. Our product designers and engineers understand where you want to take your business and provide solutions accordingly. A bulk of our processes involve deep feedback loops with every level of your organisation to ensure that all products have diverse inputs and are market-ready. We help with user testing, feedback implementation and finally, scalability.

Initially, we worked out of an apartment with two engineers and two years down the line, we have a team of 20 engineers and designers

What are the mistakes a company makes while launching a new website?

Mistakes when launching a website are very project specific as each project will have a different set of complexities. However, these are some general patterns that we always follow.
- Strive to have 100% test coverage through the project
- Conduct mock deployments at least a week before the actual launch date
- Penetration and stress tests must be conducted at the backend
- During the launch, have clear communication channels open with the product manager/client and always have a fallback plan

Founded in 2014, Commutatus has now grown to have clients from 12 different countries and have over 19 people working in-house. Innovation is at the heart of Commutatus. The engineers, designers and architects are pushed constantly to be at the edge of technology

Does Commutatus offer website guarantee and warranty?

We generally guarantee bug fixes for the first three months of any project that we develop. At the end of the day, our success is tied to the success of the product that we launch, so we make sure that it’s always up and running. We have service-level agreements (SLA) set with most of our projects so that customers are always at ease knowing that we’ve got their backs. Free service and support is generally provided for a few months after the launch of a website and it depends on the scale and complexity of the project. Larger projects will normally have SLAs already in place so everything moves forward easily.
