She loves to travel and thinks of herself as a young adult. "My husband says that I act like one too," quips author Vibha Batra, as she proves to be as light-hearted as one. And hence, it comes as no surprise to us when we hear that her latest book is for the young adult population. This Children's Day, the author better known for penning romances was out with her new book, Euro Trip.

Vibha states that as a writer, she has a ‘why spare anyone?’ kind of attitude. "I've written for adults, young adults, children and senior citizens. And I find myself very comfortable switching between genres," she acknowledges.

So, what does this book have in store for these fresh adults? "The book is all about Rohan, a teenager who goes to Europe, with his folks and a bunch of strangers," dictates Vibha. Like any other teenager, he wants to click as many photographs as possible. Who wouldn't? It is Europe after all! Also, there’s a summer photo essay competition at school and he is all set to ace it. But what happens on that trip...well, that forms the crux of the story.

If I had to choose one author, I’d say my grandfather, the late Shri Vishnu Kant Shastri. His memoirs and his travelogues are my all-time favourites

Vibha Batra, Author

Like most naturals, Vibha has writing in her blood. Her grandfather, Vishnu Kant Shastri was an academician, Sanskrit scholar and prolific writer. "After my grandfather's death, I decided to translate his work on the Ishaavaasya Upanishad - a book that combined philosophy, mysticism and spirituality. And that was my birth into the literary world," she recalls.

For someone who craves versatility, Vibha says that she is open to all genres other than horror. She does sound pretty scared too when she says, "Hats off to people who dabble in that genre and make solo trips to the loo!"
