At least 41 projectors worth Rs 16 lakh, used in classrooms in Anna University were stolen in Guindy in Chennai. Police suspect people isolated during lockdown might be the culprits. Based on the complaint by Professor K Gunasekaran, 55, professor and estate officer in Anna University, the Kotturpuram police registered a case.

According to the police, the projectors were missing from the CV Raman Science Park building. During the pandemic lockdown the building had served as a corporation care center for patients in isolation. The projectors were removed and stored in a room when the building was handed over to the city corporation."The building was handed back to the Anna University administration in October. On Tuesday evening, Muthukumar, a junior civil engineer, had opened the room number 101 where the projectors were stored," said a police officer.

Speaking to Express a senior police officer said that all of the projectors were stolen when the building was used for isolating covid patients. "Though it's been a month since the building has been taken over by Anna University the staff noticed on Tuesday and lodged a complaint on Thursday," said the police officer. Further investigations are on.
