Stating that SSLC and PU II classes will begin from January 1 with all necessary safety and precautionary measures, ZP CEO B A Paramesh said that even Vidyagama will begin as per the new guidelines.

The Mysuru district has 41,000 SSLC students and 35,000 PU students who will be attending the classes. However, 2.5 lakh students from Vth to IXth class will attend Vidyagama.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Paramesh said that all the schools and colleges have been issued circular to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) released by the government and ensure that the guidelines are strictly followed.

“All educational institutes have been directed to strictly follow preventive measures in the wake of the pandemic. It is compulsory for a child to get consent from parents to attend the class and attendance will not be compulsory. Health officials will keep a tab on them and a separate isolation facility must be ensured at every school and college,” he said.

He told that it is mandatory for teachers to get RT-PCR test done once in 20 days to conduct the classes and any students with symptoms will also be preferred for the free classes. The ASHA workers are told to visit schools and track the health of the children. He further said that all health officials, BEOs have been informed.

DDPI Panduranga said that the Vidyagama programme launched by the education department for class V to IX students will continue with small changes where students can attend the class at the nearest school and said that all private schools have been told to run Vidyagama and online classes compulsorily.
