After an entire day of clashes with the Delhi Police, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union has been invited by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for a meeting at 11 am on December 10. The JNUSU office bearers hope that the MHRD will present the report of the high power committee to them as promised earlier. But nothing has been made clear from the MHRD officially.

"We got a call from the MHRD last night saying that we are supposed to meet the Joint-Secretary today at 11 am," said Saket Moon, Vice-President of the JNUSU, on his way to the ministry along with other office bearers including President Aishe Ghosh and General Secretary Satish Chandra Yadav. Delhi Police personnel were caught on video assaulting many students including Aishe and Satish during their march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet the President. While Satish was dragged on the street by the police while being kicked by an officer, Ashe was pushed down from atop a van.

The march that was supposed to begin at 10 am on December 9, finally kicked off at 2 pm as the police had put up barricades and closed all the university gates anticipating violence. The students had decided to conduct the 'Chatra Padayatra' to the President's residence after the University General Body Meeting on December 5.

The JNU students had marched to the Parliament demanding a complete rollback of the hiked hostel fees on November 19 — the police had lathi-charged the protesting students that night injuring around 30 of them.
