Missile launching competition for school students organised to commemorate Dr Kalam's birth anniversary

Raven Aerial Technologies, conducted a Missile Launch competition as a tribute to former President and missile man of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on the occasion of his birthday. Around 1300 student participated from across Tamil Nadu.

The state-level aero-modeling competition was conducted to inspire students from all over Tamil Nadu. The workshop for designing missile model was also held at schools such as Velammal, SRM and Jeevana.

"Through this competition, we want to promote missile launching as a competition in India. Around the world, it is popular but in India, it hasn't gained any momentum. As much as it is about the game, we also want to help children be more aware of the concept of missile launching and the theories behind it," says Vasanth Kumar, Director of  Raven Aerial Technologies.

This competition has been conducted in two levels. The first level of the competition was conducted at various school campuses and the students with the best performance were filtered and selected for state-level competition. The selection process was based on the design, altitude and endurance of their missile model.

The selected student from each school participated in the state-level competition which was conducted in PPG Engineering College. T.K.Sundaramurthy, Ex Mission Director, Mangalyaan ISRO was the chief guest. Activities such as paper plane competition, glider design workshop were also organised for the students and even for their parents.
