The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has changed the examination timings for Class X and XII students for the papers scheduled from November 5 onwards.

The decision has been taken in view of the complaints received from the students about the inconvenient timings of the exams.

Joint secretary of examination in JKBOSE, Syed Rouf, said that the exams will be held at 1:30 pm instead of 2 pm as notified earlier.
“Now the exams for class 10th and 12th students will start from 1:30 pm but there will be no change in exam timing for class 11th students,” he said.

The students had complained that they could not complete their answers as there was no light and because of the biting cold. Neither proper lighting nor heating systems were available at the exam centres. As per BOSE's schedule, the exam timings for 12th and 10th begins from 2 pm.

At some exam centres, the examiners had to provide students torch lights when electricity was not available. The students said that transport facilities are also not available late in the evening after they finish their papers.

"BOSE must change the exam timing to 12 noon so that we can write the papers in daylight and also we can avail transport facilities back home after we finish the exams," the students had demanded.

The examiners had also complained that the principals of the schools have not installed proper lights and heating systems in the exam centres despite getting funds from the government for these facilities.
