In nothing less of a Bollywood style drama, around 50 students of a school in West Bengal's Coochbehar district were rushed to a hospital after a bomb was diffused near the school while the exams were underway. A few students were injured by splinters while others were affected by the deafening noise and toxic fumes, police said.

The Bomb disposal squad was called in to defuse the explosive, which was lying in an open space adjacent to the school, police said.

The students were taken to Haldibari hospital, which then referred about 15 of them to Jalpaiguri hospital, said police. Some of the students at Haldibari hospital were released after they received first aid, hospital sources said. The children complained of breathlessness and pain in the ears, Chief Medical Officer of Jalpaiguri hospital Jagannath Sarkar said.
