Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is hosting a week-long photo exhibition. It started on September 19 and will go on till the 26 in its campus in collaboration with The Indian Photography Festival (IPF) - Hyderabad, a non-profit initiative of Light Craft Foundation. A total of 48 photographs submitted by 27 students of IIT Hyderabad have been kept on display in this exhibition. The exhibition is an initiative taken by the IIT Hyderabad Department of Design to provide exposure for the students in photography and encourage them to take inspiration from the work of fellow students. The exhibition is being held under the aegis of Prof Deepak John Mathew, Head, Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad, along with Dikshit Sharma, a first-year M Design student.

Deep discussion: A discussion ensues at the exhibition

Speaking about the exhibition, Prof Deepak John Mathew said, “The IPF is an opportunity for the people of Hyderabad to get a first-hand experience with the great photographers from all parts of the world. The quality of the festival is at par with any other international festival. This photo exhibition brings the talents of IIT Hyderabad students on to a public platform and I am happy to see the quality of works. This show is the first collaborative exhibition between IIT Hyderabad and India Photo Festival. We would like to extend this collaboration in the future as well. I would like to thank Aquin Mathew, Director, IPF for this initiative and Prof U B Desai, Director, IIT Hyderabad, for his support.”

The Department of Design at IIT Hyderabad offers a vibrant environment for learning, practicing and exploring several facets of design

Speaking about the exhibition, Dikshit Sharma, first year student, M Design, said, “For me, photography is a medium of sharing my feelings with others. The IPF is a brilliant platform for aspiring photographers to showcase their work and learn from others."

Directed by Aquin Mathews, The Indian Photography Festival creates a platform for the professional and aspiring photographers, the photography lovers and the public where the IPF strives to promote the art of photography at the same time addressing the social issues through the medium of photography.
