Wondering how you can make money out of your hobby? Try this new Sports Management course
The programme at Mysuru will help sportspersons become successful by teaching them the tricks of combining business and sport
Mysuru being the hub of education, has also become pioneer for the development of Indian Sports. A‘Sports Management Programme’ has been launched by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) in collaboration with the Centre of Sports and Management Studies (CS&MS), to prepare the passionate sports lovers for a career that combines Business and Sport.
With sports growing in country there is a huge requirement of qualified and trained professionals, who know their jobs, be it in video and data analysis, coaching and strength and conditioning, logistics and event management, or handling contracts, media interactions, photoshoots, brand management and merchandising, sales and marketing and PR, etc. This is where the sports management courses come in, with their specialised hands-on training.
The specialised curriculum for this certification helps to develop skills and knowledge that sports management staff previously gained by trial and error, or through on-the-job-training. Direct Industry Affiliations with Sports Management companies would be associated with the course.
With this, those who love sports but have not found their place on an elite sports team need not get despair, as they can make their dream fulfil as a sports management professional, working with top teams and players.
CS&MS founder-member and tennis player Enrico Piperno said that this is our first venture in sports management and our vision is to provide a top quality education in sports management.
Till a few years ago, sports management was a barely known curriculum, and the field itself was limited and poorly defined. For the first time, we have envisioned to bring affordable, quality sports education right here in India, within the reach of the masses, thereby contributing positively to the National Sporting Effort, and filling up at last a long felt vacuum
Somdev Dev Varman, Brand Ambassador
This would ultimately help to encourage the consistent Excellence in Sport that would eventually lead to enhanced International Sports Performance and enable us to take our rightful place in the community of Major Sporting Nations,” he opines.
Dr H Gayathri, Programme Director, Sports Management said; ‘The course is one of the most unexplored education avenues. We provide students and young professionals with an in-depth understanding of the design and implementation of hands-on sports-specific training interventions. Our compressive curriculum is a judicious blend of classroom learning and field exposure to the best of quality.’
