Colourful, bright and vibrant are the words that would describe the art of Swathi Kirthyvasan best. But when we ask her, she adds to the list and says, "Explorative and experimental." A colourful patch of pumpkins, a bunch of bananas, different kinds of flowers and colourful patterns, we think, are her specialities. This 28-year-old is a User Experience (UX) Designer with Index Studio (a start-up that offers design services to companies) in Hyderabad and is very happy about the fact that her job and hobby constantly borrow from each other.

Art and design beautifully come together to give her out-of-the-box ideas. "When I compose interfaces for mobile apps or a website, the aesthetics of fonts and colours come to me naturally. I also feel that I am a better judge of colour, thanks to my art," says Swathi, who describes herself as an extremely curious person. "Art helps me a lot, especially in the aspects of logos and branding," she adds.

She has an Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication from Raffles and a Bachelor's in Computer Application

Talking about her art, Swathi, who was born in Hyderabad, brought up in Baroda, was in the Gulf for a few years and is in Hyderabad now, says that her focus is on what gives people joy and makes them happy, perfection is secondary to her. She has even tried her hand at mandalas, doodles and paper quilling. Thanks to her wonderful Instagram page, she has been getting requests for paintings, mandalas and bookmarks too. And more than this, she has been getting requests for workshops. "I have been taking them once every three months or so. I took one in Hyderabad, at the Fabindia Experience Center and another one at Bengaluru. But now that requests are pouring in from New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, I want to conduct ten workshops in the months of November and December," she says enthusiastically.

Swathi's ultimate dream is to pursue art full-time. Starting her own range of products, collaborating with other brands and taking regular workshops are all part of her long-term goals. And for now, she is trying to get closer to the said goals, one artwork at a time.
