In the past year, GST implementation has necessitated large-scale technology adoption and a need for specialised GST accounting professionals. To cope with the ongoing changes and help bring greater awareness about the new tax proposals, and of course, solve the huge shortage of GST accounting professionals in the country, Marg ERP, an inventory and accounting software company, is coming up with a GST software course to help accounting professional get ready for the new tax system.

"We want to equip professionals with an affordable, GST-compliant ERP system so that they can compete successfully on the digital highway under the new tax regime," says Sudhir Singh, Managing Director, Marg ERP. The organisation is primarily targeting high school and college graduates with a Commerce background. "A person who is aiming to fast-track their career in accounting and tax areas would be also benefitted. We are providing placement support as well," he says, adding that the duration of the course is three months and will include every aspect of GST like Accounting Vouchers, Inventory Management, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing, Dispatch Management, TDS and TCS, GST with Returns and so on.

The industry is struggling to get on board with a destination-based tax system from an origin-based tax structure. This shift from the previous tax regime to carry forward the input credits into GST is the biggest challenge that businesses are facing today. So, will the course help businesses handle tax compliance issues like invoice making? "Yes,” says Singh, “It will definitely help businesses in handling their tax-related issues like invoice making, GSTreturn filing, maintaining inventory and many other functions. GST is the new reality and businesses have to hire GST professionals for GST compliance and hence, the requirement for GST experts and professionals is huge.”

While there are other institutes like ICAI offering courses on GST, Sudhir believes that the course offered by them has something different to offer. "With our unique course content, we deliver better quality with modern accounting techniques and complete inventory solutions to cater to business requirements through which a student becomes eligible enough to build their professional career. We have a 360-degree approach, which makes the course comprehensive in every aspect. Moreover, the courses offered by ICAI are only for the members of the institute; other students are not eligible for this course. We even provide our students job placement support," he concludes.
