From spicy puffball and ever-loved Oreo-flavoured smokies to rich fresh and dry fruit Liquid Nitrogen ice-creams, the ‘LN2 Icecream Laboratory ‘ at Silk street here offers a melange of experimental and tempting ice-creams to the sweet-tooth in the city. The food start-up launched nearly three months back by a team of seven engineering graduates in Kozhikode is already turning into a hub for youngsters eager to satiate their hunger pangs.

Talking about their entry into the venture, Minhad Rahman V, one of the co-founders of LN2 Icecream Laboratory said, “ We have known each other since our childhood and after our graduation, we decided to start a business -enterprise where we could all work together part-time.”

After brainstorming for several weeks, the group of friends decided to open an ice-cream shop that served Liquid Nitrogen ice-creams. “Live Liquid Nitrogen is quite common in foreign countries as well as in several parts of India. However, it is rarely available in Kerala. So we figured that it was high time that the product was introduced in our city, “ he said.

These are now receiving a fairly good response from the city residents, “ added Minhad.

LN2 Icecream Laboratory offers two broad varieties of ice-creams; smokies and fresh fruit ice creams, at costs ranging from Rs.90 to Rs. 200. While the smokies, which produce a smoke-like effect while consuming come in Oreo, Wafer and puffball flavour, the fresh fruit ice-creams include Mango, Kiwi, Watermelon and Tender Coconut flavour.

“Prior to opening the shop, we conducted a lot of research online on how to make Liquid Nitrogen ice-creams and the safety rules to be followed while preparing, “ said co-founder Naseeb Nisar. The ice-cream shop is open from 4 pm to 11 pm on weekdays and from 2 pm to 11.30 pm on weekends. “ We are also planning to expand our business to Kochi and Tirur, “ he added.
