Jobs is not just a word, it means so much more. Especially if you are a student who has graduated but hasn't been placed. To bridge this gap which several students are facing today Sitansu Mishra, an edupreneur who has trained a lakh, more or less, students over the years decided to step into the ring with a new product, Jobskul. "What is the strategy to prepare for placements? How can we transform the lives of the students through innovative programmes? These are the questions we want to find answers too," says Sitansu. Now before we get into the details of this initiative, it is important to know who Sitansu Mishra is and why he feels so passionately about training and upskilling — something he has been doing for about 15 years now.
After completing his Master's from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, this IIITian bagged's first prestigious project was a short-term one with the Government of Odisha where he trained 55,000 students in two phases. He continued to work with the government and private organisations to skill students while teaching at Orissa Engineering College as an assistant professor in the Department of CSE and IT. He worked with IL&FS; headed the business development, recruitment and training as a co-founder of a start-up in T-Hub, Telangana's pioneering innovation ecosystem; worked briefly with EdTech firm TalentSprint and was a facilitator for Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana, an initiative by Government of Chhattisgarh to improve placement rate in colleges after which, he finally decided to start something on his own. Thus, came about Apogee Consulting & Training Services LLP to train students in every aspect possible, on November 14, 2017, coincidentally on Children's Day. Jobskul is a brand under the same company that started just last year. "It not only focuses on campus to corporate employability training alone, but also prepares candidates for various competitive exams," says the 35-year-old.
The lockdown could not stop the operations of Jobskul, whose corporate office is at KIIT-TBI, a leading Incubator. They have been training students remotely. Sitansu takes us through their model. First comes counseling and psychometric tests through which the areas students are weak in is recognised. They are trained in domain knowledge as per industry standards and requirements, something which colleges might not always do, there are also assessments to check if they have fared well and then make them job-ready. Further, they do the third-party background verification too if required by the associated recruiters.
"Once the recruiters are associated with us, they don't even have to go to the campus, we take the responsibility of getting them the right candidates," he asserts. What makes them different from every other organisation dingo this is the plethora of experience as a coach, trainer and even a motivational speaker that Sitansu comes with. "Currently, we are on-boarding trainers to help us with the assessment and training process. We are offering coaching for competitive examinations like banking, SSC and two batches of 50 students each have passed out. We also offer complimentary test series and ebooks along with the affordable packages," he says and concludes.
