Cases of Human metapneumovirus (HMPV), have been reportedly spreading in China, especially among children under 14

The flu-like symptoms include cough, sore throat, fever, and even wheezing in some extreme cases

These reports gave rise to panic about another worldwide pandemic, on the heels of the world’s recovery from COVID-19

Some commenters speculated that China even declared a state of emergency to tackle the alleged outbreak

However, neither the World Health Organization nor the Government of China have confirmed this

In addition, there have also been no reported cases in India so far, Director General of Health Services (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) Atul Goel confirmed
