Not "another brick in the wall": What's the relation between Pink Floyd and the Irish?

EdexLive Desk

Well, the band was British but the Irish certainly understood what the song lyrics meant.
Kids in Ireland are now learning car maintenance to philosophy, boxing to politics, and other diverse range of subjects. Well, this is what the 'Transition Year' or TY in their curriculum is all about.
TY has no fixed curriculum, but students must cover core subjects like Irish, English, Math, and Physical Education for two hours weekly. Work experience is recommended for two to four weeks a year, plus one hour of career guidance and social, personal, and health education (SPHE). Schools can choose additional activities.
In a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) module, two former police officers create a crime scene and teach students how to conduct an investigation. How cool is that?
Another interesting story: Cillian Murphy became an actor during his TY through a theatre workshop, which ignited his passion for the stage.
A student says that his passion for coding changed to psychology after TY. So did another student, who began a journey with a module on drug abuse, to an opportunity for a tête-à-tête with the Irish finance minister! | (Source: The Guardian)
